Chapter 1: Kooky’s Latest Invention

In Castle Koopa, Kooky Von Koopa was working on his latest creation. Of course it can be nothing good. Our pal Kooky never hesitates to defy the laws of physics, nature, and time... who should this surprise us? He was toiling away at this thing. He’s been locked in the lab for days. Bowser always knew that when this happened he was working on a major project. His curiosity reached it’s peak and he decided to go check up on his insane son. He approaches the hard metal door to the lab and knocks.

Bowser: Kooky! You’ve been in there for days! What are you working on?

Kooky: Something purely genius! I am almost done, King Dad. Give me another hour or so.

Bowser: Just hurry up!

Begrudgingly, Bowser walked off to his quarters. However, an hour turned into hours. It was late at night. He sat there wondering what Kooky could possibly be working on for that long. However, back in the lab, we see that Kooky has actually fallen asleep near his invention. He has not had any food or sleep for days and it has taken it’s toll on him. As he lays there by his invention, fast asleep, Cheatsey, is starting to get curious himself, walking back and forth outside of the lab door.

Cheatsey: Hmm. I wonder what Kooky is working on this time. I think I will go in and take a little peek.

Cheatsey quietly picks open the door to the lab. He opens it ever so slightly. In front of him is a funny looking machine. It is a such a small machine. It appears almost to be a funny looking box.

Cheatsey(whispering): This is what Kooky was working on? Hmm, I think I will take it back to my room... of course, I will return it before he wakes up.

Just as Cheatsey tip toes over to the gadget to pick it up Kooky slap his claw.

Kooky: Nuh ah Cheatsey! Don’t touch!

Cheatsey: Aww but I wanna see it!

Kooky: It is nearly finished. I just need to detail it a little bit. And you’re crazy if you think you can steal from me. We all have to be light sleepers with you living around here.

Cheatsey: No fair...

Cheatsey then proceeds to walk out of the door. Just as he is though a crash is heard.

Kooky: What was...

Before Kooky can finish his sentence, crashing through the door is Mario and Luigi.

Kooky: You always come at the worst times!

Mario: We know you stole the princesses’s gold charm bracelet. We saw Cheatsey sneaking out of her castle earlier! Hand it over now Kooky!

Kooky: Well, Mario. I am afraid I can’t do that. I needed that bracelet for my latest invention! The Brain Switcher! IT IS GENIUS!

Kooky does his laugh as he holds his machine above his head. Mario gets lunged to attack.

Mario: You take Cheatsey, and I’ll take Kooky!

Kooky: Mario, no wait!

As Mario jumps after kooky the contraption gets knocked out of Kooky’s claws and falls on the floor. As the machine crashes onto the floor it emits a sonic vibration of waves. The sound is piercing loud and causes everyone to temporarily lose their hearing.

Mario: OUCH! WHAT IS THAT THING!?!

Kooky: Oh no! It is malfunctioning! No! NO!

Everyone falls to the ground... Mario, Luigi, Kooky, and Cheatsey all. The machine then eventually was busted. It burst into smoke and then turned off. The sonic waves stopped emitting. After several minutes, and after regaining their hearing, Cheatsey and Kooky sat up. To their surprise though things were not the same.

Kooky(as Mario): Woah! This is all wrong! I am in Mario’s body!

Cheatsey(as Luigi): Oh, I look like... LUIGI! OH! This is not fair!

The two brushed themselves off.

Cheatsey(as Luigi): Kooky, you better fix this!

Kooky(as Mario): This wasn’t supposed to happen! It will take me days to fix! How am I going to be able to do this looking like Mario!?!?

Cheatsey(as Luigi): Well, since you look like Mario, and I look like Luigi, imagine the damage we could do to their reputations! Plus I am sure the princess has a lab of some sort. We could sneak, cheat, and make the Mario brothers look bad!

Kooky(as Mario): And than King Dad would love us!

Cheatsey(as Luigi): We need to get out of here though... while I cause trouble in the Mushroom Kingdom, you can get that thing fixed.

Kooky(as Mario): Well, what are we waiting for! I am sure since we look like the Mario Brothers now, we can use the same power ups that they always use!

As the two are discussing they hear loud thuds coming towards the lab.

Bowser: Kooky! What is all of that noise! In there!

Kooky(as Mario): We need to get out of here Cheatsey!

The two climb up over a window and fall onto the ground outside. They take off out of Dark Land. Bowser however, has no clue what has just happened and is making his way into the lab where the Mario Brothers are passed out, and have yet to discovered their new bodies. Bowser angrily storms into the lab.

Bowser: Kooky! Cheatsey! What are you doing in here!?!?!

The two slowly start to wake up.

Bowser: Oh no! You ruined my lab! You two better clean this mess up or I will throw you both in the dungeon... with no dinner! Understand?

Bowser then slams the door shut. The two finally get the strength to sit up.

Mario(as Kooky): Uh... my head... Luigi, where are you?

Luigi(as Cheatsey): Right here brother.

Mario looked in front of him and he was surprised. He stood up and backed off from Luigi.

Luigi(as Cheatsey): Woah! Kooky? Wait, what?

Mario(as Kooky): Oh no, Luigi! We traded bodies with those koopa kids!

Luigi(as Cheatsey): This is terrible!

Mario(as Kooky): I will tell you this for sure... I am gonna need a long bath after this is over!

Luigi(as Cheatsey): You’re telling me!

Mario(as Kooky): Bowser Koopa has no clue though. We are pretty much stuck here, and he is going to expect us to clean up this mess!

Luigi(as Cheatsey): Oh no brother, we are doomed!

Mario(as Kooky): Luigi... shh. We just need to lay low for awhile.

Luigi(as Cheatsey): Those koopa kids are going to cause all sorts of trouble looking like us! Everyone is going to think it is us doing those bad things!

Bowser(shouting down the hall): I don’t hear any cleaning being done in there!

Mario(as Kooky): We don’t really have a choice, Luigi... lets just get this done, and then we can make it up as we go along. Just stay cool Luigi. They don’t know it is really us. Just don’t choke. I promise we will get out of this safely.

Luigi(as Cheatsey): Hopefully soon!

Chapter 2: Confusion

Kooky and Cheatsey are nearly to the Mushroom Kingdom. The princess approaches them thinking they are the actual Mario Brothers.

Peach: Oh thank goodness you two are back.

Kooky(as Mario): Oh... um yes! We are so glad to be back!

Peach: Did you get my thing back from those cruddy koopas?

Kooky(as Mario): No... I am afraid not. They overpowered us easily! We were just no match.

While Peach is talking to Kooky, Cheatsey picks into her pocket for any valuables.

Peach: Goodness Luigi! What are you doing?!?

Cheatsey(as Luigi): Umm, inspecting your... pockets! For dust!

Kooky bumps Cheatsey in the gut.

Kooky(as Mario): Well, Princess. We have had a long day. We are just going to head off to the...

Just then a villager approaches the two, by the name of Kat.

Kat: Oh Mario Brothers!  I need you right away! My pluming is on the fritz!

Kooky(as Mario): Umm, what?

Peach: It’s ok. You two go. I will meet you at the castle later.

Kat: Please!

Reluctantly, the two follow Kat to her house. As they walk in there is water everywhere.

Cheatsey(as Luigi whispering): How are we gonna fix this Kooky? We have no idea what to do!

Kooky(as Mario whispering): Just... follow my lead... we will figure out something.

Kat: Please fix my pluming!

Kooky(as Mario): Shutup lady! We are getting to it!

Kat: Oh my! How rude!

Kooky persists to shove the lady out of the house and locks the door.

Cheatsey(as Luigi): What are we going to do!?!

Kooky(as Mario): Shutup Cheatsey! We are going to get out of here. Remember our plan!

Cheatsey(as Luigi): Well, let me grab a few things before we go.

Cheatsey walks around the soaked house and takes whatever he can get his hands on. Cheatsey dumbs everything out of the side window. First Cheatsey crawls out and than Kooky follows. Cheatsey picks up all of his stuff and they sneak off to Peach’s castle before Kat could notice them. She was still standing outside of her door in a huff.

Kooky(as Mario): Now watch this... Hey you! Lady!

Kat: Excuse me? What are you doing outside!?!

Cheatsey(as Luigi): Fix your own pluming lady!

Kat: WHAT!?! EXCUSE ME?!? And what are you doing with all my stuff?

Kooky(as Mario): Our arrival fee. We can’t fix that lady. Have fun doing it yourself!

Kat: Oh no!

As Kat jarred her door open to her house water came flooding out of the house. She was soaking wet. The two headed towards the castle with all of Kat’s stuff. They walked right in the castle and dropped Kat’s stuff on the floor.

Peach: Mario, Luigi, where did you get all of that stuff?

Kooky(as Mario): A garage sale!

Kooky then began his laugh, and soon after Cheatsey put his hand’s over Kooky’s mouth.

Peach: Mario... for a second there you almost sounded like...

Kooky(as Mario): Oh don’t be ridiculous princess! Never! I am not smart enough to be Kooky Von Koopa! I am just a stupid Plummer!

Peach: Huh?

Kooky(as Mario): Well, princess, Ch... I mean, Luigi and I are tired from our long day’s work.

Peach: But it is only 1:30 pm.

Kooky(as Mario): Goodnight!

The two took off on out of the castle.

Peach: How weird...

Suddenly there was a knock at her door.

Peach: Oh, Kat... dear, why are you all wet?

Kat(spitting out water): Those Mario Brothers!

Peach: What?

Kat: Those Mario Brothers didn’t fix my pluming at all! And they took all of my stuff... that stuff on your floor right over there!

Peach: Oh goodness! That isn’t like them at all!

Kat: Well, you tell those two that they are never going to have a job in this town again!

Peach: Oh no...

Peach shut the door as they were done talking.

Peach: This is not like them at all... I wonder why they are acting so... so... strange? I better follow them.

Peach locks up her castle and goes to follow after the “Mario Brothers”... meanwhile in Castle Koopa things are going bad as well. The Mario Brothers had just finished cleaning up Koopa’s lab.

Mario(as Kooky): I am... so tired.

Luigi(as Cheatsey): Me too brother.

Bowser: Kooky! Cheatsey! Out here now!

The two looked at each other in dread and followed Bowser’s call. He was in the loading dock to the doom ship.

Bowser: Since you two are done cleaning up the castle, Cheatsey. You’re coming with me!

Luigi(as Cheatsey): Wait, WHAT!?!

Bowser: You heard me!

Luigi(as Cheatsey): Buh but... I um.. Have an... appointment...

Bowser: What?

Luigi(as Cheatsey): Oh yeah, I can’t go, darn it!

Bowser reaches over to grab him.

Bowser: You never try to get out of a job... never... what is wrong with you?

All Luigi can do is gulp.

Bowser: Well, I need you... this particular job I need your cheating and devious mind.

Mario(as Kooky): Maybe I should go with too.

Bowser: No! You are staying here! I want you to stay here and watch Hip and Hop.

Mario(as Kooky): WHAT!?!

Bowser: Come on Cheatsey. Quit playing games! We are going now!

As they all take off in the doom ship Luigi looks back at Mario in dread.

Mario(as Kooky): I will get us out of here brother... I promise.

Mario walked back into the castle. Hip and Hop were jumping on furniture in the living room.

Mario(as Kooky): Ok... you kids... just, behave.

Hip: You are not really...

Hop: ...Kooky.

Hip: You are...

Hop: ...Mario.

Mario(as Kooky): How did you know?

Hip: Because... we are the ones...

Hop: ...That messed with the machine...

Hip: ...While Kooky was sleepin.

The twins start to laugh.

Mario(as Kooky): This isn’t funny you little brats! Your brother has the broken machine, and we have no way of switching back!

Hip: Too...

Hop: ...Bad!

The twins start to laugh again and take off into the castle.

Mario(as Kooky): What am I doing? This isn’t my problem. Those brats will be fine. I need to get to the Mushroom Kingdom quick!

Mario heads on out of the castle and heads for the Mushroom Kingdom. However, realizing that he is in Kooky’s body, they most likely would try to kick him out as soon as he stepped foot in the place.

Mario(as Kooky): Hmm, I am gonna have to be careful... but how can I get inside?

Mario than notices the doom ship heading towards a warp pipe to the mushroom kingdom.

Mario(as Kooky): Ah forget it! I am gonna have to wing it!

Mario speeds off to find the nearest way to get to the Mushroom Kingdom. Meanwhile on the doom ship, Luigi is extremely nervous.

Bowser: Now, Cheatsey. I am gonna need you to...

Bowser looks over and notices him shaking all over.

Bowser: Cheatsey! What is wrong with you today!?!

Luigi(as Cheatsey): I just don’t think this is... a very good... idea.

Bowser: What? We have been planning this all week! You are gonna sneak all of those gold coins out of the Princesses’s castle onto the ship! We are going to cloak the ship, as a regular cloud, you are going to sneak into the castle, while the sledge brothers distract everyone!

Luigi(as Cheatsey): Do I have too?

Bowser: Yes you do!!!

Luigi(as Cheatsey whispering): Oh no... I can’t do that... the princess would never forgive me. I need to get out of here somehow... but I am so high up.

Kootie Pie(to Bowser): What is wrong with Cheatsey, King Daddy?

Bowser(to Kootie Pie): I have no idea. He is acting so bizarre... almost like... nah. Couldn’t be.

Back at the Mushroom Kingdom, Kooky and Cheatsey are in the basement of the castle trying to fix his machine.

Cheatsey(as Luigi): Do you think we cause enough trouble for the Mario Brothers around town today?

Kooky(as Mario): And then some!

The two laugh maniacally.

Kooky(as Mario): Here is the problem! There is a... lollipop stuck in the circuit! Oh, Hip and Hop were messing around with my inventions again while I was sleeping!

Cheatsey(as Luigi): How come you always wake up when I come in?

There was an awkward silence and then Kooky started working on the machine. The princess proceeded on her way down to talk to them.

Peach: Mario, Luigi. Can I have a word with you?

Kooky(as Mario): We are busy woman! You either come down here or wait!

Peach: Excuse me?

Peach proceeds downstairs to talk to the two of them.

Peach: What is wrong with you two?!? You stole from Kat’s house, refused to do her pluming, wrecked Toad’s house, destroyed my garden, pickpocketed from the villagers, spit in the face of the bank tellers, vandalized the side of the castle wall, why are you two doing all of these strange... hey... what are you working on there anyways?

Kooky(as Mario): What does it look like, silly? I am fixing my invention! The Brain Switcher! Duh!

Peach: Why would you create... something so reckless and crazy?

Kooky(as Mario): None of your business Princess!

Peach: Excuse me Mario, but I will not have you talk to me that way in my own castle. I am going to find out what is going on. This I promise you.

Peach proceeded upstairs. Suddenly there was another knock at her door. She opened it up.

Police Officer: Princess! We have reports that Bowser’s doom ship is heading for town! And also we have spotted this little troublemaker trying to enter town!

Peach: Kooky Von Koopa?

Mario(as Kooky): Listen, Princess! We don’t have time! I need to talk to you right away! Please!

Police Officer: Come on you punk!

Peach: Wait a minute... let him go.

The police officer obliges.

Peach: Kooky? You never say please...

Mario(as Kooky): Listen Princess! I need to explain things to you, we don’t have much time!

Meanwhile the doom ship enter into the Mushroom Kingdom. It is disguised as a big huge cloud however. Nobody even notices it.

Bowser: Cheatsey my boy. I don’t know why you have been acting so funny today, but now is your most disgusting moment ever! You are going to steal all of the coins from the castle. Are you ready?

Luigi(as Cheatsey): Can’t we do this another day... like... next Tuesday?

Bowser angrily grabs him and ties him onto a rope. Just as he is about to lure him down he gets a call on his wand.

Bowser: Ugh, hold on! What is it Hip? Hop?

Hip: We just wanted to let you know...

Hop: ...That really isn’t Cheatsey!

Bowser: WHAT!?!

Hip: We messed with Kooky’s invention earlier!

Hop: And it short circuited...

Hip: And they switched bodies! Mario, Luigi, Cheatsey, and Kooky!

Bowser: WHAT!!!

Bowser looks back at Luigi. Just as he does, he managed to jump off the side of the ship. He crashed through the roof in the castle, crashed through the floor, and right into the basement onto Cheatsey and Kooky.

Kooky(as Mario): Get off of me!

Cheatsey(as Luigi): Oh no! It’s Luigi!

Just then the princess heads downstairs with Mario. Luigi gets up off the ground and heads over towards them.

Peach: Cheatsey and Kooky Koopa! Mario told me everything! I knew there was a reason you two were going all of those horrible things!

Mario(as Kooky): Kooky Von Koopa! You fix that thing right now and turn us back to normal!

Kooky(as Mario): I am going to fix it, but I am not fixing it to switch us back! I am fixing it to cause everyone else in the Mushroom Kingdom to switch bodies as well!

Kooky and Cheatsey start to laugh maniacally.

Luigi(as Cheatsey): You better switch us back or else!

Kooky(as Mario): Or else what?

Kooky and Cheatsey start to laugh again. Then all of the sudden they hear loud footsteps coming down the stairs. It was Bowser.

Bowser: Or else I will lock you brats in the dungeon, until you’re old enough to be retired!!! FIX IT NOW!

Everyone waits begrudgingly for Kooky to fix the machine. It seems to be taking forever.

Bowser: Hurry up! I want to get out of here! Luigi already ruined our plan to rob this castle!

Peach: Hah! You have tried that before! Running out of plan, Koopa?

Bowser: Oh, you shutup! HURRY UP KOOKY! NOW!!!

Kooky(as Mario): There! It is done! All four of us just need to press this big red button at once!

Cheatsey, Kooky, Mario, and Luigi all approach the machine. They all put their hands on the big red button. As before there is a sonic wave. Everyone covers their ears. Soon enough, there is a small sonic boom, and everyone falls down. They all look at themselves to see if it worked.

Mario: Hey! I am my old self again!

Luigi: Me too!

While everyone was not looking Bowser grabs a bag of coins from the castle. There is a rope that comes from the sky. As Kooky reaches to grab his machine, Mario throws the machine on the floor and smashes it to pieces.

Mario: I don’t think so Kooky!

Kooky: All my hard work! Destroyed!

Bowser: Grab on Kooky! Cheatsey!

Kooky: I will get you Mario! Just you wait! This is a promise!

Just as the koopas are being lifted up, Mario quickly grabs a fire flower and fire a fireball at Bowser’s claw. He drops the bag and screams in pain.

Mario: We will take that back too!

The koopas take off in their doom ship and go back to Dark Land.

Peach: I knew something was wrong when you two were acting so funny.

Mario: Now Kooky’s invention is destroyed, and everyone is back to normal.

Luigi: Brother... I need a shower... after being Cheatsey Koopa for the day, I really need it.

Mario: Hey! At least you didn’t have to be Kooky! That crazy hair was itching my scalp badly!

They all collectively laughed.

Mario: First we need to call a town meeting and explain everything the Mushroomers.

Peach: I will get right on it!

Mario: Luigi, you get started on fixing the floor, and we will fix the roof later.

Luigi: Got yah brother!

Mario followed the princess. Everyone in town was assembled outside of the castle. Mario and the Princess both give a speech and explain everything.

Kat: So that really wasn’t you, Mario? It was those sneaky Koopa Kids?

Mario: Yes Kat.

Peach: And I am going to pay to buy you a new house and replace all of your things that were ruined. The things that the Koopa Kids stole are still in my castle. I will hold them for you for now.

Everyone cheered and whistled. Meanwhile back in Dark Land Bowser was dealing with a problem of his own... two of them...

Bowser: Hip! Hop! Since you two are the cause of this whole mess, I want you to clean up THIS WHOLE MESS.

Hip: Aww come on...

Hop: ... King Dad!

Hip: It’s what you...

Hop: ...Taught us to do!

Bowser: I want this entire castle spotless! Here are your brooms! And no fun until the WHOLE entire castle is cleaned from top to bottom!

Hip & Hop: But.

Bowser: DO IT NOW!

King Bowser went to his room and slammed the door shut. The two small twins started sweeping just a tiny area of the floor of a megahuge, multi-story castle. They mumbled under their breath and started the difficult task with much reluctance.

Hip: Stupid mean old...

Hop: ...King Dad!
